WHO ARE WE?
We are a Husband and Wife team and have kept reptiles since 1993. Our first snake was a Californian King Snake (still going strong) for our son and the collection grew from there - we now have over 100 reptiles.
The Animal Experience (formerly The Reptile Experience) was established in 1995, and we have now appeared at over 2000 private parties as well as hundreds of schools.
We are fully
insured and CRB checked and have studied Herpetology and Pet Store Management. We have City & Guilds qualifications in both Pet Store Management and teaching (PTTLS 7303). On top of this, Hazel is a paramedic and so health and safety is always put first and foremost!
Our aim is to both entertain and educate, and in the case of reptiles to help people overcome their fears! We attend veterinary colleges/universities and
all of our animals are hand tame.
FILM & TELEVISION
All of our creatures may be booked for television and media work. They have appeared on the History Channel, Channel 4, Lion TV, Animal Planet, Granada Breeze, Blue Peter and Rolf's Amazing World of Animals. We provide a qualified handler(s) for the day and specialise in hand tame creatures available to interact with props and actors as required.
ANIMAL RESCUE
The Animal Experience also rescue and re-home unwanted animals. These are mostly large reptiles that people cannot look after properly, e.g. Burmese Pythons and Iguanas, although we have also been called to collect small snakes from private gardens. We give free impartial advice on reptile suitability and care as pets. Our work in this field is totally unfunded so donations are always appreciated. Some of these animals are expensive to keep!
